About Dan Cordell

I am an aspiring 3D games artist currently situated in the UK, looking to break into the games industry.

I have a deep seated passion for games in the more traditional pen and paper format, tabletop war games and of course videogames. However, more than anything else, my main love is the creation of game art. I especially enjoy the aspects of both character and environmental modeling and the challenges that each discipline presents. I enjoy seeing how the games industry evolves each year and, how advancements in technology and gaming innovation enhances the overall gaming experience for the players, this being particularly prevalent in graphical technologies.

DanCordell_01Originally I got into creating computer games art by trying to create game mods, this then developed into wanting to take this hobby further. After completing my studies for a BSC in Computer Games Technology, I was fortunate enough to get involved with a team wishing to enter Dare to be Digital. Upon completing Dare, the team and I were awarded the Intel Visual Adrenaline award for most visual appeal and performance in a prototype game with integrated graphics. At the beginning of this year I was fortunate enough to work with indie developers, Lukewarm Media on the upcoming Primal Carnage Multiplayer FPS.

Tools of the trade:

Im always open to using new tools and generally try and approch new software packages with glee, however I would consider myself experienced in the following software suites:

  • 3D Studio Max
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Mudbox
  • Zbrush
